Steam Vegetables in NuWave Oven

For a healthy side dish at dinner, it is easy to have steam vegetables using the NuWave oven. Any type of vegetables can be used depending on what you want that day and your preferences. It is also important to realize that some vegetables take longer to cook than others.

This is important to keep in mind when timing the cooking period of veggies like broccoli or carrots. To understand how to steam veg in Nuwave, this article will use broccoli as an example since it can be difficult to get the right texture if done the wrong way.

Wash a head of broccoli and cut into bite size pieces. Place on one-half of a tin foil sheet that is about 2 feet in length and fold the other half over the vegetables folding in the sides of the foil to create a purse. At the top pour in 1/4 cup of water and add salt and pepper to taste.

nuwave steamed vegetablesClose the purse at the top but leave a small opening to allow air to flow through. Place the purse with broccoli on a 1-inch rack in the oven and steam on Power Level Hi for 8-10 minutes.

Some users might still find that the Broccoli is to hard for them to eat. If this is the case, repeat the same Power level for 10 more minutes, cooking for a total of 20 minutes.

The 4-inch rack can also be used with a shallow dish like metal or silicone since these heat up quickly. It is important to keep an eye on the vegetables and turn them often during the cooking period since they can burn with this setup.

You can try both methods and see which one works best for you. Also, different seasonings can be used depending on the taste you are trying to achieve.
